New to Cycling?

If you are new to cycling, inexperienced, lacking confidence, nervous about going on a club ride or riding as a group then don't be! And don't think "i'd better not go on a ride because i'll be too slow and hold everybody up".

The club rides can and do cater for all abilities. We may also occassionally offer faster rides for more experienced riders or shorter, slower rides for the less confident cyclists. The aim is for all club members to enjoy the great outdoors on their bike, learn new skills and techniques, and improve, irrespective of your starting point.

They can be a great social event where you get to know members better and learn off each other.

Hope to see you on a club ride!

A Guide to Club Riding

The club has put a guide to club riding together that explains what is required and expected of you and what you can expect. Click on the link below to read the information.

Turbo Sessions

The club hosts a weekly turbo training session on a Tuesday evening at Grappenhall Community Centre (where we also hold our awards evening).

These are structured, progressive sessions. They are suitable for all abilities as you can put in as much effort as you are able, but they can be quite intense whilst a great social too.

Tuesday evenings, 7:00 to 8:30pm. Cost £3.

Bike Handling Skills

The club has previously held occasional sessions for beginners and/or improvers on the basics of bike handling and group riding. If you feel you could benefit or are interested in this then please contact the club. If there is enough interest we can put on a session to suit.

Time Trials

In race season, cycling time trials are popular with members. They are also part of the club standards and so there is extra incentive to take part. The most common courses can seen on the Best Times section of the site, and there is a link to the cycling time trials website in the "Useful Links" section.

There is ususally a small fee to pay at whichever you enter. Be warned that they are popular and there are often a limited number of spaces and/or dates by which entries must be submitted. Feel free to contact the club for any advice or information.
